Accreditation

Temple University's College of Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). The college was most recently reaccredited in 2023 for the maximum accreditation term of seven years. View the final report from CEPH.

CEPH accreditation assures “quality in public health education and training to achieve excellence in practice, research and service, through collaboration with organizational and community partners.” In its final report, CEPH noted some of the College of Public Health’s strengths, recognizing its faculty’s passion and commitment to students; positive student experiences in fieldwork and the high quality of student products; the high number of faculty with extensive experience in public health practice; its extensive research infrastructure; its faculty’s high rates of participation in externally funded grant research and its strong ties to community and government agencies across the region.

CEPH is an independent agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit schools of public health and public health programs offered in settings other than schools of public health. CEPH is a private, nonprofit corporation with the American Public Health Association (APHA) and the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) as its two corporate members.

CEPH’s accreditation procedures require the College of Public Health to undertake a rigorous self-evaluation—a process which engages stakeholders from across the college and our constituencies, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, collaborators and community partners. The college must submit a self-study document and host a team of qualified external peer reviewers to validate the self-study during an extensive on-site visit. This team of reviewers includes public health academics, practitioners and accreditation specialists.
