Temple University’s College of Public Health (CPH) joined forces with Leonard “Jay” Kennedy and the nonprofit organization Live to Serve for “Give Back Day”—a meaningful day of community service honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Students, staff, faculty, and alumni volunteered across four local sites, taking on projects ranging from community clean-ups to distributing sandwiches, winter clothes, and care packages to disadvantaged and displaced Philadelphians.
Dean Jennifer Ibrahim joined volunteers at the Sisters of Saint Joseph Welcome Center in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood, displaying her dedication to Temple’s core values. “Service has the power to transform communities,” Ibrahim said. “That’s why I love seeing so many volunteers come together to support our neighbors in North Philadelphia; it makes a difference for all of us.”
Ra'Shaun Gass, the Community Engagement Manager who organized the event, shared his enthusiasm: “Give Back Day is all about building relationships and showing up for the community. The incredible turnout really reflects our ongoing commitment to making Philadelphia a safer and healthier place to live, work, and learn together.”
