Biography
Dr. Anita Singh is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Bioengineering at Temple University. She earned her Ph.D. and M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Wayne State University and her Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Lukhdhirji Engineering College, India. Before joining Temple University in 2023, she served as Associate Professor and Chair of Biomedical Engineering at Widener University and held research and teaching appointments at Drexel University, Rowan University, and the University of Delaware. She also brings industry experience as a Clinical Research Project Manager at Globus Medical. Dr. Singh's research focuses on the biomechanics of nervous system injuries, particularly neonatal brachial plexus injury and spinal cord injury. Her laboratory integrates experimental biomechanics, computational modeling, and structural and functional assessments to investigate injury mechanisms, establish tissue injury thresholds, and develop strategies for injury prevention, diagnosis, and rehabilitation. Her research has received competitive funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Defense, and several foundations, including an NIH R01, an NSF CAREER Award, and an NSF grant supporting computational models of neonatal brachial plexus injury during complicated childbirth. She has authored or co-authored several peer-reviewed journal publications in leading journals, including Journal of Biomechanics, Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, Journal of Neurotrauma, PLOS ONE, and Bioengineering. Dr. Singh is a Fellow of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) and has received recognition for her research, teaching innovation, and academic leadership.
