Biography
Dr. Abhishek Roy is an Associate Professor in the Statistics, Operations, and Data Science Department at the Fox School of Business at Temple University. He joined the Fox School in 2018 as an Assistant Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management, after completing his doctoral studies at the University of Texas at Austin.
Roy’s research examines the strategic dynamics of supply chain interactions among firms and their customers, partners, and competitors. Using analytical modeling grounded in game theory, industrial organization, and operations research, he studies how firms make decisions involving contracts, collaboration, competition, information sharing, innovation, and technology.
A central theme of Roy’s research is that seemingly straightforward business practices can produce unexpected outcomes when firms respond strategically to one another. His research spans traditional and digital supply chains and intersects with economics, marketing, information systems, and strategy. His research has been published in Management Science and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management.
Prior to entering academia, Roy worked in supply chain consulting, an experience that continues to shape his approach to research and teaching. At Fox, he created the Inventory and Warehouse Management course and teaches Operations Management, emphasizing analytical reasoning, experiential learning, and connections between theory and practice.
Roy earned his PhD and Master of Science in Supply Chain and Operations Management from the University of Texas at Austin, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Production Engineering from Jadavpur University.
